Automate Your Documents with Custom Logic
We can build special rules, or "logic," directly into your templates to automate tasks and save you time. Think of it as adding small automations to your documents.
Below are some popular customizations we can add.
Common Customizations
Round Numbers: Automatically round numbers like square footage or project costs to a specific decimal place.
Calculate Durations: Calculate time periods, like the number of years an employee has been with the firm, using a date from your system.
Use Fallback Text: If one field is empty, the template can automatically pull information from another. For example, if a 'Preferred Name' field is blank, it can use the 'First Name' field instead.
Format State Names: Automatically switch between a U.S. state's full name and its two-letter abbreviation (e.g., New York vs. NY).
Insert Placeholder Text: If a field has no information, the template can insert default text like 'To Be Determined'.
Alphabetize Lists: Automatically sort lists, such as the roles on a project team.
Group Information: Organize data in specific ways, like grouping an employee's projects by client on their resume.
Omit Section If No Data Present: If a datapoint isn't present in OpenAsset, that text can be omitted from the document. For example, in a list of headers and values, if there is a data point for Cost: [Cost Data Here] - the "Cost" header can be omitted from the document if that data is not present for a given project or employee in OpenAsset.
This list isn't exhaustive! If you have another idea for custom logic, please contact our Support Team to discuss if it's possible.
